Team Ecco-ESAR races in Milton - June 16

Andrea, Kevin and Vin race the ARC Enduro race in Milton on Saturday June 16. The girls were not available or not interested in doing this race. Janicke raced with Mike and another friend. Figured I should do it since it was SO close to home (12 mins....nice!).
We paddled around Kelso lake twice. Got on our bikes and biked/pushed our bikes up the hill. Looked for a couple of CP's (one was missing and we spent over 45 mins looking for it). We then made our way over to Hilton Falls where we trekked around looking for more CP's. This section was difficult because the map didn't show any trails but there were a lot of trail everywhere. Vin was great with the nav in this section (after having a hard time with the first CP). After getting all our CP's we found out that we were still in 4th place. Got on our bikes and rode on hydroline trails and roads over to Mountsberg. Got the final CP and rode back to Kelso. It was a shorter race (less than 6 hrs). Had the team back to my house for beers post-race.

Hadn't raced with guys for a while....had a great time though.

4th of of 10 teams (very sad to only have 10 teams out for an Enduro race this close to the City)

Adventure Challenge (May 5, 2007)

Sherry, Janicke and Andrea raced the Frontier Adventure Challenge in Huntsville. It was an "interesting" race.
We started on bike from Deerhurst Resort. The gravel roads and some of the trails were quite fun. Others were a bit challenging. From the bike, we transitioned to a trek. This was a bush whack but we were perfect with the navigation (about 2 km through the woods). We then had to cross a river and then run a gravel road for about 5-6 km.
The next TA we moved on to canoeing. This is always interesting with 3 people in a boat. And I was the middle person. I got really cold and was shivering quite uncontrollably for a while. We had to portage around 4 rapids, but also ran many other fun rapids. I just wish it were warmer. After the paddle, we got back on our bikes. I left the TA with a silver emergency blanket wrapped around my upper body because I was still so cold. It was mainly trail and a bit of road back to Deerhurst. We crossed the finish line in just under 9 hours.
-2nd out of 8 all female teams
-17/34 overall
